Highsnobiety aims to provide our readers with the latest updates in the world of street fashion. However, we cannot verify the credibility of any unauthorized leaks or rumors unless such information is provided directly by the brands themselves.
If anything is consistent about Supreme, it’s the persistent rumors starting to circulate even before she announces her next seasonal collection. This time, they’re whispering that the revered New York brand will be collaborating with BAPE for Spring/Summer 2022.
First, Supreme x BAPE has been rumored many times in the past, so it’s only fair to take the grumble with a giant grain of salt.
The top leak pages have gotten surprisingly accurate with their rumors – reminiscent of Pucci’s oddly accurate predictions from last year.
Plus, it’s not as if Supreme doesn’t cooperate with like-minded labels on occasion.
Although Supreme prefers to partner with heritage brands like Levi’s and Dr. special events.
BAPE, of course, collaborates with basically everyone these days, from the popular retailer association to Hajime Sorayama.
Back in 2002, Supreme and BAPE got together for a collaborative Bogo T-shirt, but, like most things Supreme makes with other street fashion labels, it was a one-off T-shirt rather than a full capsule.
All of this means that Supreme x BAPE is definitely not out of possibilities these days, especially now that BAPE is elevating itself by matching up with the friends of Supreme at COMME des GARÇONS and JJJJound specializing in tastings.
It’s a tantalizing prospect only on the face of it, considering that Supreme x BAPE will bring together two of the biggest street fashion brands of all time.
Meanwhile, a lot of fans are pretty lukewarm about the idea.
Comments on Instagram posts range from “that’s crazy corny” to “maybe if it was still 2016.” Still, a lot of people are into the idea, especially if Supreme is remixing BAPE classics, like the full-zip SHARK jacket.
Neither Supreme nor BAPE will confirm or deny anything either way (even if they’re not partners this season, they may have plans down the road), so don’t expect any updates until there’s an official announcement, if at all.
